Faulty Phone system?

I was contacted to move my appointment to another time. I accepted another time, but once checking with my wife discovered she had a midwife appointment, so I was on childcare duty. Could I contact the surgery to let them know and arrange another time? NO! I called and tried to speak to the Admin team approx 10 times - each time, I was put into a queue, and the hold music came on, then suddenly without warning I was sent back to the main menu and had to go back into the queue again... I will now go to the surgery to speak to someone through an intercom to resolve this... how frustrating and such a waste of time!!!
